Three far-right extremists have been found guilty of planning a terrorist attack targeting mosques and Islamic education centres. Brogan Stewart from Tingley, Marco Pitzettu from Derby, and Christopher Ringrose from Cannock were convicted after a nine-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court. Their sentencing will take place on 17 July.

The case was led by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, who arrested the men in February 2024 after gathering intelligence that showed they were preparing for violent acts.

Investigators discovered that the three were part of an online group that openly spread racist and hateful views, praised mass murderers, and encouraged violence against minority communities. They showed admiration for the Nazi regime and called themselves “militant.” Stewart was described as the group’s leader and had even created rules and set out a uniform for members. The other two men were named as “armourers,” responsible for handling weapons.

The three were sourcing and gathering weapons

Over 200 weapons were found in their homes, including machetes, swords, knives, crossbows, and illegal items like a stun gun. The group also collected riot gear, body armour, and military-style food rations. Ringrose was also convicted of illegally making a 3D printed gun, which, had it been completed, could have caused serious harm.

The group discussed attacking places of worship, including synagogues and mosques. They believed a so-called race war was coming and were preparing themselves for it. Police and prosecutors said the men were not just fantasising — they were making real plans and collecting weapons. Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley said:

“Stewart, Pitzettu, and Ringrose have today been rightfully convicted of multiple terrorism offences. They were a group that espoused vile racist views and advocated for violence, all to support their extreme right-wing mindset."

Detective Chief Superintendent also said that the group posed a serious threat and were stopped just in time. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that the case was supported by evidence from the group’s social media chats and their stockpile of weapons, showing how dangerous their intentions truly were. This conviction is part of efforts to keep communities safe from all forms of extremism.
